Who small orders are for
Small orders fit a lot of situations:
A new product line that needs pallets for its first production run
A small plant or shop that goes through a few hundred pallets a year
A one-time project, such as a move or a large outbound shipment
A trial order before you commit to a larger volume
How small orders are delivered
Orders smaller than a full truck ship LTL, which means less than truckload. Your pallets share a truck with other freight, so you pay for the space you use instead of a whole trailer. You can mix pallet types on one delivery, so 30 Grade A and 30 Grade B can arrive together.
Will a small order cost more per pallet than a truckload? Usually, yes, because the freight is split across fewer pallets. With that said, buying the 75 pallets you need costs less than buying 500 and storing the rest for months.
Keeping the cost down
A few things help on a small order:
Use recycled pallets where you can, such as Grade A or Grade B
Stick to standard 48x40 pallets if your load allows it
Give us a flexible delivery date
Combine two or three small orders into one delivery
When your volume grows
If your usage climbs, the same contact can move you to bulk pricing or full truckloads. You do not have to switch suppliers to get a better price per pallet.
