Gaylord Boxes in Indianapolis and Noblesville

What a gaylord box is

A gaylord is a large corrugated box that sits on a pallet. It holds loose parts, scrap, plastic pellets or anything else that ships in bulk. The box and the pallet move together as one load, so a forklift can pick it up and set it down without spilling.

Sizes and wall strength

Most gaylords match a pallet footprint. The common sizes are 48x40, 48x45 and 48x48, usually 36 to 48 inches tall. Taller boxes are available for light, bulky product.

• Double-wall boxes for lighter loads and one-way trips

• Triple-wall boxes for heavy parts and repeated use

• Octagon boxes that resist bulging under heavy loads

• Full-bottom or flap-bottom styles

• Lids and liners when you need them

Wall strength is the first thing to settle. How heavy is a full box, and how high will you stack it? Curt spent more than 30 years in corrugated packaging before he moved into pallets, so he will match the wall to your load.

Gaylords and pallets together

A gaylord is only as strong as the pallet under it. A full triple-wall box can weigh well over 1,000 pounds, so the pallet has to carry it without cracking. We can source the 48x40 GMA pallets or heavy-duty block pallets on the same order, sized to the box.

Questions about gaylord boxes

How much weight can a gaylord hold?

It depends on the wall. Double-wall boxes are made for lighter loads, and triple-wall boxes hold much heavier ones. Tell us the weight and we will match the box.

Do gaylords ship flat?

Yes. They arrive flat and fold up at your dock, which saves storage space until you need them.
